JOB SUMMARY

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, equipment, and services in support of production requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory levels, optimizing cost, and ensuring timely delivery from suppliers while supporting continuous improvement in the supply chain.

  • Monday - Friday (7:30AM - 4:30PM)
  • Contract Position (3-4 Months to Permanent)
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Reports to: VP of Operations
  • Pay Rate: $24/hr. +

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Source and purchase materials according to engineering specifications and production schedules.
  • Create and issue purchase orders within Netsuite, track deliveries, and manage vendor performance.
  • Use Netsuite EPR system to review and act upon MRP (Material Requirements Planning) recommendations to ensure timely procurement aligned with demand and production schedules.
  • Support inventory management goals by avoiding overstocking or shortages of critical items.
  • Monitor material availability and work with production control to adjust purchase orders based on changes in demand or lead times.
  • Collaborate with production, planning, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials meet project specifications and timelines.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to obtain the best value.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service capabilities.
  • Resolve issues related to supply, pricing discrepancies, and supplier performance.
  • Create and distribute inventory cycle counts.
  • Work with production to reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Monitor open POs to proactively ensure on time deliveries by vendors and to report any material delays to production control.
  • Support inventory management goals by avoiding overstocking or shortages of critical items.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement within the supply chain.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge of NetSuite ERP, especially in purchasing, inventory, and vendor modules.
  • Experience working with MRP systems and interpreting MRP output for purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 3+ years of experience in a procurement or buying role within a manufacturing environment
