JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated Machinist Apprentice / Machine Shop Assistant to join our team in the manufacturing machine shop. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to develop hands-on machining skills while working alongside experienced machinists. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in building a career in precision manufacturing.
  • Compensation: $18/hr.
  • 1st Shift (Monday - Friday)
  • 6:00AM - 2:30PM
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Assist machinists with setting up and operating manual and CNC machines.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Support the selection and preparation of cutting tools, materials, and machine setups.
  • Observe and assist with basic machine adjustments and operations.
  • Measure parts using calipers and other precision measuring tools under supervision.
  • Inspect parts for quality and report any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine shop and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform general shop duties and assist with other related tasks as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in machining/manufacturing required.
  • Previous shop, manufacturing, or hands-on experience preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn CNC and manual machining processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrollment in or completion of vocational/technical training preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in on-the-job training.
